Tape-In Hair Extensions — Care & Maintenance Instructions

Proper care helps maintain the adhesive strength, softness, shine, and longevity of Tape-In extensions.

1. Brushing

Brush gently 2–3 times daily with an extension-friendly brush.
Start from the ends and gradually work upward.
Hold the hair near the tape area while brushing to reduce tension.
Avoid pulling or brushing aggressively over the adhesive.

2. Washing

Wait around 24–48 hours after installation before the first wash.
Use a sulfate-free, extension-friendly shampoo.
Wash gently and avoid excessive rubbing around the tape.
Apply conditioner mainly to the mid-lengths and ends.
Keep conditioner, oils, and masks away from the adhesive tapes.

3. Drying

Gently squeeze excess water from the hair instead of rubbing.
Do not sleep with wet extensions.
Dry the roots and tape areas completely.
Use low-to-medium heat when blow-drying.

4. Heat Styling

Always apply a heat protectant before styling.
Avoid direct heat on the tape bonds.
Keep straighteners and curling irons away from the adhesive.
Avoid excessive high-temperature styling.

5. Sleeping

Brush the extensions gently before bed.
Tie the hair in a loose braid or low ponytail.
Make sure the hair is completely dry.
A silk or satin pillowcase can help reduce friction and tangling.

6. Swimming

Wet the hair with fresh water before swimming.
Apply a suitable leave-in conditioner to the lengths and secure the hair in a loose braid.
Rinse thoroughly with fresh water afterward.
Minimize prolonged exposure to chlorine and salt water.

7. Products to Avoid

Keep oils, serums, conditioners, and greasy products away from the tape.
Avoid alcohol-heavy or harsh products that may affect the adhesive.
Do not apply excessive dry shampoo directly around the tape.

8. Maintenance & Reapplication

Tape-In extensions generally require professional repositioning every 6–8 weeks, depending on natural hair growth.
During maintenance, old tape is removed and fresh replacement tape is applied.
Never pull or remove Tape-Ins forcefully, as this can damage the natural hair.
