A scalp skin based wig (also called a skin base wig or PU base wig) is a type of wig where the cap is made using a thin polyurethane (PU) layer that looks like real human skin. This gives the illusion that hair is growing directly from the scalp, making it one of the most natural-looking wig bases available.

Unlike lace wigs, which use a mesh lace material, skin base wigs use a smooth, skin-like surface that closely mimics the appearance of a real scalp.

A scalp skin based wig (PU wig) needs gentle care because the polyurethane base is more delicate and less breathable than lace. Proper maintenance helps preserve the natural scalp effect, hair quality, and durability.

Daily care
Gently detangle before and after wearing using a wide-tooth comb or wig brush.
Start from the ends and work upward slowly to avoid pulling on the PU base.
Avoid excessive brushing near the scalp area, especially in injection hair systems.
Finger-combing is recommended for reducing stress on the base.
Washing
Wash after 8–12 wears or when product buildup appears.
Use lukewarm water and a sulfate-free, mild shampoo.
Gently wash in a downward motion—do not rub, scrub, or twist the base.
Apply conditioner only on mid-lengths to ends; avoid the PU base completely.
